Cesky Krumlov

Český Krumlov is a small city in the South Bohemia Region. It is best known for its fine architecture, historical old town and Krumlov Castle. Old Český Krumlov is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The city of Krumlov, first referenced in 1253 as "Crhumbenowe", had a mixed population of Czechs and Germans till 1938. The expansion of the city began when the Lords of Rozmberk replaced the Vitkovitz family in 1302. During this period the town experienced an economic boom; new churches, monasteries and buildings were constructed, and new laws allowed the constitution of new markets, handicrafts and the trade with other cities. The city’s social and cultural life also underwent an expansion period during the Rozmberk’s dynasty.

It is located 170 km south of Prague and 22 km of České Budějovice.
